Why do you do this?

Those of us who maintain this website, monitor others, provide help in the forum or work with those who are not part of the online community do this because we feel we have gained a great deal from our participation in the project (some of us for a very long time). The time we have invested in this website and the community it represents is how we have tried to repay the time invested in us.

We understand there is no other community quite like this one—which is another reason we have committed ourselves to this project. It is needed very much by some, but not all, women. Each of us has a great deal in common with every woman who comes to the project and to our small community because we have all walked a similar path to arrive here. We are all volunteers with busy, complex lives. But this project gave to each of us something we believe should be given to others. That is why we were given permission to build this website.

The project Instructor is a married, widely published academic and writer engaged in work on this topic. The Instructor has no direct involvement with this website.
