Disciplines | Non-Participant Disciplines

T

he Project of which this site is a part is the focus of a very private and small global community devoted to mindfulness and to understanding submission in a very wide variety of contexts—and not just sexual surrender. The sister members here do not “do” submission. It is not a lifestyle activity. For us it is a comprehensive way of life. The disciplines used in this Project were designed to supplement the guidance given to participants, but we recognize that some of them may be useful to women who want the comfort of centering their daily lives around the requirements of accountability, transparency and the demands of ongoing watchfulness.

Therefore we are publishing here a set of rather routine suggestions we have found useful. Many of these are used independently by women who are members of the community and without benefit of a monitor but there is no requirement that community members embrace any of these as a condition of community membership. If you need practical help with any of these, please contact a community volunteer by clicking here. We hope these are helpful.

Monitored members: Additional information pages are available for these and many other, related disciplines. Consult your monitor for more information.

It must be assumed that you are familiar with the terms and conditions of use that govern your voluntary participation here. This page has been adapted from the Introductory Conditions page given to new participants. It is subject to change without notice.

This is a private discipline page from submissivewife.org and has been made available to you for your personal use only. It is not to be forwarded or otherwise shared. If you have reached this page in error or through a searched link, please leave now by clicking here.

NOTE: This page is concerned with introductory disciplines only. There are other resource pages available to participants covering various aspects of your submission, including personal grooming; weight control; food intake; fitness; fasting; deportment; dress; texts and documents; spirituality and sexuality; accountability and vulnerability and other disciplines, along with web, film and video resources. This page is distinct from pages devoted to any other ongoing requirements. It is not possible to ‘browse’ through resource and discipline pages. Access to various resource and discipline pages is given to participants only at appropriate points in their formation.

ONGOING DISCIPLINES for NON-PARTICIPANTS

In certain circumstances, monitoring of calendars and/or journals is available. For more information, see the calendar page [link below].

While non-participants need not embrace all (or any) disciplines, for those who do obedience to selected disciplines should not be negotiable, especially if you are self-monitoring your behavior.

This page and pages linked from it are best displayed using IE 5.0 or higher.

§       Understand the principles of formation as practiced by the members of this community. Reviewing the project’s FAQs is also helpful.

§       Set aside a few moments each day to practice watchfulness, as defined on this page. Community members strive to live their lives in a state of elevated mindfulness.

§       Participate in the internal disciplines area of the Submissive Wife community discussion facility and understand how it works.

§       Grooming and appearance should always reflect your pride in yourself and a wish to please others. The community stresses the importance of self-respect, as described on this resource page since the value you place on yourself helps determine the value of the gift you give to others.

§       Choose a text from the text resources list and commit to reading and understanding it and discussing it with others in the text commentary area of the community forums.

§       Be realistic in your expectations. If you are a community member discuss your goals with the mentoring sister assigned to you.

§       Manage your self-discipline wisely and use as many of the community resources as possible to help you succeed. These notes on time management, for example, may be useful.

§       Accountability is a very useful tool. Account for your obedience to the disciplines assigned to you (or selected by you) by maintaining a daily calendar and noting your activities there. It must be kept current. Most participants update their calendars at least once a day—more often if they have asked to have them monitored.

§       Some community members embrace nutritional disciplines not as a way to lose weight but as a way to introduce thoughtfulness into even the most routine daily pleasures. To that end, the Project provides an effective discipline called Watchful Sustenance for Monitored Women and Non-Participants. Those who embrace this discipline as a part of a more advanced approach to formation are given the food they need to maintain good health and watchfulness, and they are urged not to take more than what is offered to them. However, for those who also wish to have weight-control introduced into this discipline in order to live in accordance with the Project's views on appearance and deportment, the community has formed a health and nutrition discussion area. Members of that group offer support and information applicable to dietary and exercise regimes. If the nutritional discipline is followed for purposes of controlling weight, prior consultation with a healthcare professional is strongly advised.

§       Refrain from wearing jeans, trousers or slacks. Participants typically wear only skirts and dresses (except when exercising or performing strenuous labor, at which times sweatpants or shorts are permitted), very often with added prohibitions on intimate apparel. They may also follow other, related grooming disciplines, as well.  If you elect this discipline, your daily dress should be noted on your calendar.

§       Community members do not raise their voices in their homes. Displays of temper or other destructive behaviors should be marked on your calendar. The use of a journal is helpful for longer observations and reflections.

§       Practice some form of transparency, the more uncomfortable the better. Consider asking to join the cluster of discussion groups in the transparency area of the community forums, be frank in your discussions with others in the community or link your private journal, calendar or blog from the declarations you make in the internal discipline forums.

§       Non-participants who request monitoring must be completely drug-free (other than drugs prescribed by a physician, of course). It is impossible to monitor the personal pages of all non-participants who ask it, so requests for this attention should be accompanied by a note explaining why it is required.

Note to community members: If you fail to remain obedient to your disciplines, you should confess your disobedience on your calendar or in your journal and to the sister who monitors you (if you are being monitored). Those who are being monitored will receive helpful correction and guidance.
